Prelude: Melancholy of the Future

05/11/2020 - 29/11/2020

In line with current safety measures, the exhibition Prelude: Melancholy of the Future will remain closed until further notice.

However, MDD’s charity take-out gala on 14 November, designed by Rirkrit Tiravanija, will go ahead as planned.

Prelude: Melancholy of the Future brings together works by artists associated with MDD, either in the past or the future. The exhibition – the last at MDD before the museum’s renovations, until summer 2021 - considers the current challenge of anticipating on a future while the past itself is under scrutiny.
As a benefit exhibition, all works in Prelude: Melancholy of the Future are for sale, in support of the museum, the contributing artists and, in many cases, their galleries.

'Take-out gala' - Saturday 14.11.2020
Artist Rirkrit Tiravanija has conceived an event – specially adapted to these corona times – during which Chris Dercon (Director, Grand Palais Paris) and Agniya Mirgorodskaya (Founder, Riga International Biennial of Contemporary Art) will be our guests of honour.
