Dirk Streber creates spectacular images of car accidents or flood disasters on huge canvases. His aesthetics of disaster has a sculptural touch about it. Because humans are absent in the compositions, the paintings give the impression of being “still lifes”. For his exhibition in the Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens, Skreber explores how he can transform these painted realities in fictitious sculptures.
The exhibition in Dhondt-Dhaenens coincides with a parallel project with some ten recent paintings by Skreber in the Hallen in Haarlem (06/12/2008 - 01/03/2009).
